Living Dead Dolls

The Living Dead Doll series is a phenomenon that has held on tightly to its niche in the doll collecting market. It seems that anyone and everyone are buying some or collecting all the Living Dead Dolls: Teachers, engineers, Goth enthusiasts, mothers, daughters, husbands and even sons just can’t get enough of these departed but living dolls. The history behind the dolls and the truth through the fiction that started this doll craze is as alive as a dead doll series can be.

Ed Long and Damien Glonek, creators of the Living Doll Series and whose parents instilled an early love of the horror genre in the two boys, never thought that such doll making endeavors would get them very far. In fact, they never intended to create a mind-blowing doll series. The Living Doll Series has humble beginnings at the annual Chiller Convention, both Glonek and Long attendees for the last twelve years. Both Glonek and Long made the dolls for themselves, not for mass marketing. When they opened a small booth to sell the dolls the first year at the Convention they sold out instantly—people loved them. Both doll creators debuted their dolls at the Chiller Convention years thereafter, the only place back then you could buy the handmade dolls. People crowded around their table more and more.

Glonek and Long were onto something, and a rep at Mezco Toyz new it. After phone calls and meetings, Ed and Damien had just signed on to make (well, create, design and see through) the Living Doll Series for a big name toy company. The exciting thing for these guys was they had a hand in everything; they didn’t have to sell out to bigwigs but got to be creative with their dead dolls, now in their 12th series, plus extras. As Ed Long once said, “We don’t create the dolls, they create themselves.”

Or, go ahead and check out the listings below from our on-line Action Figure Shop. You just might find what your looking and can buy it right from this site. Below are some of the current listings for in our shop.

And Mezco pays them handsomely for their self-creating dolls. Though the two lose some of the creativity that goes into handcrafting the dolls themselves (they only made around 12 dolls for each Chiller Convention before), they are given more time, opportunity and leeway to create really special Living Dead Dolls. Before Mezco Toyz was on the scene, for example, Long and Glonek couldn’t make boy dolls, as it was near impossible to do so with materials out there. With Mezco, the sky’s the limit! Each Living Dead Doll now comes with a real fake death certificate and how the unfortunate doll met its death.

The names of the Living Dead Dolls are as gruesome as their appearance. With Series One, we were given names like Sin, Sadie, Posey and Damien. By Series Two, we had Schooltime Sadie, Kitty, Lou Saphire and Deadbra Ann; Series Ten gave us Mildread, Demonique, Tina Black and Wolfgang. In between the release of the individual series, we even get the Fashion Victim dolls: With supped-up look-a-likes from former series, we get Kitty, Sadie and Sheena in a more sexy form. There are even porcelain dolls, exclusive dolls, handmade dolls and more. The Living Dead Doll Series has grabbed audiences of all types into its inner deadly circle. The fad is in full motion to continue, with Damien and Ed doing what they do best—create a Living Dead Doll horror series that keeps audiences deathly happy.
